Amanda Brugel

(February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on the part of Montreal called the West Island. The West Island, to those not familiar with it, is a large part that stretches from Lachine until the west. Amanda Brugel's birthplace is frequently mentioned, but her brief time in the city wasn't. Brugel was an aspiring young lady in Courtice Ontario, just outside Oshawa. The first goal she had was to be a dancer but a growth spurt meant that she literally outgrew her dance partners. The article she wrote about her experience revealed written by the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall, even when she wears heels. As I got bigger than my male partners, I quit. A lot of dancers go from dancing into acting. In the case of Brugel, it was her drama teacher who nudged her into this path. The teacher encouraged her to take part in an audition in a school production. She was chosen to play the lead character for Anne of Green Gables after she had a go at. This led to a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theatre Program and graduated with an Associate of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Her career spans 20 years and she has appeared in 60 different productions, both on big screens as well as smaller screens. The most well-known role she played was the one of Rita (pictured in the below photo) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the character the character of Rita on The Handmaid's tale which was filming over 10 years ago.
